South Coast Tours 3 Day Spectacular Tour

South Coast Tours’ “3 Day Spectacular” inaugural tour is set to be trialled by 21 parents of children with special needs from Noah’s Shoalhaven on 19 – 21 May.

The aim of South Coast Tours is to increase visitation to the region by providing high quality packages from locally owned tourism business’ that showcase some of the best attractions of the NSW South Coast.

Guests visit Minnamurra Rainforest plus Crooked River Winery and then enjoy a sunset river cruise from Shoalhaven Heads to their accommodation at Angler’s Rest Waterfront Cabins in Greenwell Point. The second day takes in the natural wonders of Jervis Bay, Booderee National Park and Koori led tours at its Botanical Gardens followed by a visit to the charming Meroogal House and keeper talks at Shoalhaven Zoo on day three.

The introduction of South Coast Tours has been made possible with dollar for dollar funding of $100,000 from the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade to Angler’s Rest Waterfront Cabins for the addition of 2 new 4-star cabins, a new reception and a new website (  Additional assistance of $20,000 in dollar for dollar funding has been provided by AusIndustry’s – Entrepreneur Development program to the South Coast Tours partners including Angler’s Rest Waterfront Cabins, Kennedy’s Luxury Coaches and Shoalhaven Zoo – all locally owned tourism operators.

The guests of the inaugural tour are all carers of special needs children at Noah’s Shoalhaven. Noah’s has been established in the Shoalhaven for the past 33 years providing care and support for children, young people, their families and carers so that they are included in the community.  Noah’s provide flexible, professional, caring and culturally appropriate services for children and their families where the children have a disability, developmental delay or challenging behaviour.  This also extends to early childhood centres through training and resourcing and to Aboriginal communities and organisations where there is an invitation to work in partnership.

Noah’s Shoalhaven is important to our Community because they celebrate the child, not their difference.  Noah’s believes it is important to support the important role of parents and carers and that families deserve a high quality service. This is why they employ professionals who are passionate about their role.   Noah’s is a not for profit, non-government, community based organisation and although they receive some funding from the government, they still need to fundraise to provide the best possible services to approximately 800 children per year who access their Centre.

The inaugural tour was offered to carers at Noah’s Shoalhaven because South Coast Tours gain a sense of satisfaction when helping to improve our community and it is the right thing to do as the carers in our community deserve a big thank you. Also if locals can be impressed by the South Coast Spectacular Tour then potential customers from further afield will be even more delighted with the clear water, fresh air and wide open spaces that South Coast locals are accustomed to.

Marine Life at Low Tide

Greenwell Point South Coast Eco Tourism

Oysters Crabs Pelicans and Seagulls

Marine life at low tide, Greenwell Point. It has been calculated that one hectare of mangroves produces more protein (fish) than a hectare of the best farmland (cattle, sheep).

These pics were taken across the road (March 2015) at very low tide. Crabs, seagulls, and pelicans feeding and soaking up the sunshine with lots of baby fish seeking shelter where they can.
