South Coast Tours 3 Day Spectacular Tour

South Coast Tours’ “3 Day Spectacular” inaugural tour is set to be trialled by 21 parents of children with special needs from Noah’s Shoalhaven on 19 – 21 May.

The aim of South Coast Tours is to increase visitation to the region by providing high quality packages from locally owned tourism business’ that showcase some of the best attractions of the NSW South Coast.

Guests visit Minnamurra Rainforest plus Crooked River Winery and then enjoy a sunset river cruise from Shoalhaven Heads to their accommodation at Angler’s Rest Waterfront Cabins in Greenwell Point. The second day takes in the natural wonders of Jervis Bay, Booderee National Park and Koori led tours at its Botanical Gardens followed by a visit to the charming Meroogal House and keeper talks at Shoalhaven Zoo on day three.

The introduction of South Coast Tours has been made possible with dollar for dollar funding of $100,000 from the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade to Angler’s Rest Waterfront Cabins for the addition of 2 new 4-star cabins, a new reception and a new website (  Additional assistance of $20,000 in dollar for dollar funding has been provided by AusIndustry’s – Entrepreneur Development program to the South Coast Tours partners including Angler’s Rest Waterfront Cabins, Kennedy’s Luxury Coaches and Shoalhaven Zoo – all locally owned tourism operators.

The guests of the inaugural tour are all carers of special needs children at Noah’s Shoalhaven. Noah’s has been established in the Shoalhaven for the past 33 years providing care and support for children, young people, their families and carers so that they are included in the community.  Noah’s provide flexible, professional, caring and culturally appropriate services for children and their families where the children have a disability, developmental delay or challenging behaviour.  This also extends to early childhood centres through training and resourcing and to Aboriginal communities and organisations where there is an invitation to work in partnership.

Noah’s Shoalhaven is important to our Community because they celebrate the child, not their difference.  Noah’s believes it is important to support the important role of parents and carers and that families deserve a high quality service. This is why they employ professionals who are passionate about their role.   Noah’s is a not for profit, non-government, community based organisation and although they receive some funding from the government, they still need to fundraise to provide the best possible services to approximately 800 children per year who access their Centre.

The inaugural tour was offered to carers at Noah’s Shoalhaven because South Coast Tours gain a sense of satisfaction when helping to improve our community and it is the right thing to do as the carers in our community deserve a big thank you. Also if locals can be impressed by the South Coast Spectacular Tour then potential customers from further afield will be even more delighted with the clear water, fresh air and wide open spaces that South Coast locals are accustomed to.

Things Keep Getting Better

Things keep getting better

Over the last 4 years we have been focused on improving our accommodation offerings.  Now it’s time for a new reception.  While we absolutely loved the look of the old place it was dysfunctional as well as being freezing in winter and stifling in summer.

The new reception is due for installation in July and will be clean and comfortable with a fabulous deck at the front so all our guests can relax and enjoy the scenery.  Stay tuned for more exciting updates and pictures as our new reception and 2 new cabins are installed.

Is Greenwell Point really a “lively city”

I cannot resist sharing the joys of online sales.  Here is a request for corrections sent by us this morning to one of the best known distribution sites…

Dear ….., As mentioned yesterday the current introduction for Angler’s Rest is misleading.  Greenwell Point has a population of around 1,000 people and includes at most 6 café / restaurants, 1 club, 1 pub, 1 butcher, 3 shops/grocery stores, and 1 petrol station.  It is a beautiful, quiet fishing village surrounded by water, great fishing and beaches, and trees and birdlife and 15 minutes from many other naturally beautiful places.  There is not a city or traffic or traffic light in sight.  I have highlighted below the phrases that are just plain wrong – can you ask the appropriate department to refer to our website for some accurate information?

Ps we have 8 self-contained cabins for offer on Agoda, not 5 rooms.

Well-positioned in Greenwell Point, Angler’s Rest is the ideal point of departure for your excursions in Greenwell Point. From here, guests can enjoy easy access to all that the lively city has to offer. With its convenient location, the hotel offers easy access to the city’s must-see destinations.

Offering hotel guests superior services and a broad range of amenities, Angler’s Rest is committed to ensuring that your stay is as comfortable as possible. Top features of the hotel include laundry service/dry cleaning, car park, family room, pets allowed, Wi-Fi in public areas.

The hotel features 5 beautifully appointed guest rooms, each including ironing facilities, television, fan, hair dryer, air conditioning. Besides, the hotel’s host of recreational offerings ensures you have plenty to do during your stay. When you are looking for comfortable and convenient accommodations in Greenwell Point, make Angler’s Rest your home away from home.

Many thanks,

Family Holiday Activities on the South Coast

Family Holiday Activities - Watersports

Water activities like water skiing & wake boarding are a great family holiday activity on the South Coast.   Jamie at Shoalhaven Ski & Wake and Simon at Wow-watersports have both taken us, our kids, friends and family out a few times.  All our family & friends had a blast and will be back!!

A family day out at Shoalhaven Zoo (formerly Nowra Wildlife Park)

shoalhaven zoo

If you’re looking for something fun to do for the whole family then get along to Shoalhaven Zoo.  Set in bushland on the banks of the Shoalhaven at North Nowra, this is the largest native and exotic zoo on the NSW South Coast.  We go there frequently and love it every time.  It’s privately owned and managed and staff put on great talks.

There is quite a variety of animals from snoozing wombats and koala to crocs and camels. Don’t miss the opportunity to cuddle a koala or get all wrapped up in a friendly python and take the “Jungle Walk” along the back of the park – our kids’ favourite.

Living on the South Coast

space, wildlife, fresh coastal breeze,

wandering peacocks,

burrowing echidnas,

jumping fish & soaring eagles,
