If you’re looking for something fun to do for the whole family then get along to Shoalhaven Zoo.  Set in bushland on the banks of the Shoalhaven at North Nowra, this is the largest native and exotic zoo on the NSW South Coast.  We go there frequently and love it every time.  It’s privately owned and managed and staff put on great talks. 

There is quite a variety of animals from snoozing wombats and koala to crocs and camels. Don’t miss the opportunity to cuddle a koala or get all wrapped up in a friendly python and take the “Jungle Walk” along the back of the park – our kids’ favourite.

we like the South Coast

Fred has been coming back to stay and fish at Anglers Rest cabins, Greenwell Point for a while now.  Last Sunday night he landed this 83cm jewfish from the wharf, along with 7 bream and some blackfish.  Not bad eh!!

This Navy helicopter made an emergency landing at the Greenwell Point boat ramp parking opposite Angler’s Rest last Wednesday after experiencing a transmission fault alarm when 5nm out to sea.  The Navy ordinarily use the Agusta A109E Power helicopter for training, public relations and recruiting activities, and in keeping with their training the Navy crew very kindly took some snap shots of Anglers Rest customers posing with the helicopter while they waited for another helicopter to land with the necessary stuff to get back in the air.  Thanks for the entertainment!!!

Marine Rescue’s SAREX (Search and Rescue Exercise) saw Police & Rescue boats, crewed by volunteers from the region ready for action first thing Sunday morning.  Training exercises were held over the weekend & volunteers accommodated at Angler’s Rest.  Under perfect conditions the volunteer rescue teams found the dummy dropped by a navy helicopter without a hitch on Sunday.  Good on ya, thanks for all your volunteer efforts & choosing Greenwell Point & Angler’s Rest for your accommodation again this year.
